Wildlife Park Matcher Tool: Bandhavgarh vs Kanha vs Ranthambore vs Corbett

India has many national parks but there are four that come up again and again when travellers ask about tiger safaris, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Ranthambore and Corbett, and each one rewards a slightly different kind of trip. Bandhavgarh has the country's highest tiger density and the best short trip odds. Kanha offers a larger, more atmospheric landscape that inspired The Jungle Book. Ranthambore pairs tigers with a genuine hilltop fort, and sits closest to the Golden Triangle. Corbett, India's oldest park, trades guaranteed sightings for a denser, more classic wilderness experience alongside Rishikesh.

There is no single best answer, the right park depends on how many days you have, what you are actually optimising for, and which part of India your itinerary already runs through. This quiz asks the questions that matter and points you toward the park that fits, rather than just listing four options and leaving you to guess.

How to Use This Tool

Answer based on the wildlife leg specifically, not your whole trip, since travel time and days available often differ from the rest of your itinerary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which park has the best tiger sighting odds?

Bandhavgarh consistently has the highest tiger density of India's major parks, which translates into the best realistic sighting odds over a short visit. Ranthambore is not far behind and has the advantage of being much easier to reach from Delhi or Jaipur. Kanha and Corbett both offer good sightings, but with somewhat lower odds given their larger size and denser terrain respectively.

Can I visit more than one of these parks on the same trip?

Yes, Bandhavgarh and Kanha are commonly combined on a single Central India wildlife circuit, since they sit close enough together to visit both without excessive travel time. Ranthambore and Corbett are each better suited to pairing with a different region, Ranthambore with the Golden Triangle and Corbett with Rishikesh, rather than with each other or with the Madhya Pradesh parks.

How many days should I plan for a tiger safari?

Two full days, meaning four safari drives, is a reasonable minimum for a realistic chance of a sighting at any of these parks. Three to four days meaningfully improves your odds and is particularly worth it at Kanha, which is large enough to reward the extra time with a broader sense of the park.

Is Ranthambore too crowded to be worth visiting?

It is busier than Bandhavgarh or Kanha, largely because of how easy it is to reach from Delhi and Jaipur, but it remains worth visiting for the combination of tigers and the fort ruins, a setting genuinely unique to Ranthambore. Choosing the right zone and safari timing, which your guide will manage, reduces the crowding you actually experience on the ground.

Why would I choose Corbett if the tiger sighting odds are lower?

Corbett suits travellers who want a complete wilderness experience, dense old growth forest, rivers, foothill scenery and strong overall biodiversity, rather than a trip built entirely around a single tiger photograph. It is also the natural wildlife pairing for anyone already building a Rishikesh or Himalayan foothills itinerary, where Bandhavgarh, Kanha or Ranthambore would mean significant extra travel.

More on The Quiz Tool

This quiz is best read alongside the itineraries each park actually belongs to.

Bandhavgarh and Kanha Wildlife Safari: the full itinerary behind the UK India Tourism Central India wildlife circuit.

Golden Triangle with Ranthambore: how a Ranthambore safari slots onto the classic Delhi, Agra and Jaipur route.

Central India Jungle Book Trail: the wider itinerary connecting Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Orchha for travellers with more time.

Train vs Private Car vs Domestic Flight: check the Nagpur to Kanha and Jabalpur to Bandhavgarh routes here once you have a park in mind.

If your result is close between two parks, it is worth remembering that Bandhavgarh and Kanha share a region and combine easily, while Ranthambore and Corbett each anchor a different part of the country entirely, so the deciding factor is often which region the rest of your trip is already built around.
