If you arrive with energy and curiosity, your guide can take you for an easy early evening introduction to Delhi. Stroll around the stately avenues of New Delhi and visit some of the following, depending on your timing:
• India Gate - The grand war memorial arch at the heart of New Delhi, surrounded by manicured lawns and evening crowds. A powerful and stirring first landmark.
• Connaught Place - Delhi’s elegant Georgian-colonnaded commercial heart, buzzing with restaurants, boutiques, and street life.
• Delhi Haat - An open-air craft emporium where artisans from across India sell handmade textiles, jewellery, ceramics, and food. A perfect first taste of India’s extraordinary creative heritage.
• Janpath Market - A famous street market beloved by international visitors for its eclectic mix of handicrafts, silver jewellery, and Rajasthani textiles.
No pressure, no schedule. Tonight is about arriving in India on your own terms.
Overnight: 5-Star Hotel, Delhi
Day 2: Delhi - Seven Layers of History in One Magnificent Day
Delhi is not one city. It is eleven cities, each one built on the ruins of the last, spanning over 5,000 years. The Mughals, the British, the Sultanates, the Rajputs, all of them left their mark here, and today you explore the greatest monuments they left behind.
Old Delhi: The Heartbeat of Mughal India
Your morning begins in the labyrinthine lanes of Old Delhi - a sensory experience like no other on Earth. Incense, spices, rickshaws, ancient mosques, and chaos that somehow has a rhythm all its own.
• Red Fort (Lal Qila): A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the greatest symbol of Mughal imperial power. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639, its massive red sandstone walls stretch nearly 2.5 kilometres and enclose a world of exquisite palaces, marble pavilions, and royal gardens. Every August 15th, India’s Prime Minister addresses the nation from its ramparts on Independence Day. Its history is the history of India.
New Delhi: Colonial Grandeur & Architectural Mastery
• Humayun’s Tomb: A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important monuments in India - not just for its own breath taking beauty, but because it was the direct architectural inspiration for the Taj Mahal. Built in 1570 by Empress Bega Begum in memory of her husband, the Mughal Emperor Humayun, this sublime double-domed mausoleum rises from Persian-style charbagh gardens of extraordinary elegance. Walk slowly. This is a place for quiet contemplation.
• Qutub Minar Complex: A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the tallest brick minaret in the world, built in 1193. The 73-metre tower is surrounded by the ruins of Delhi’s first mosque and a mysterious 1,600-year-old iron pillar that has never rusted - a metallurgical marvel that still puzzles scientists. The complex tells the story of the birth of Islamic architecture in India.
Between sites, your English-speaking guide brings each monument to life with the stories of the emperors, architects, and empires that created them, making this feel less like a tour and more like a private history lesson in the most beautiful classroom imaginable.
Overnight: 5-Star Hotel, Delhi / Meals: Breakfast
Day 3: Delhi to Agra - The Day You See the Taj Mahal
This is the day you have imagined since you first considered visiting India. Today, you see the Taj Mahal.
You depart Delhi in your private luxury SUV and travel the Yamuna Expressway to Agra, a smooth, comfortable drive of approximately three and a half hours. Your chauffeur handles everything. You simply watch North India unfold through your window: vast plains, ancient villages, peacocks by the roadside, and the occasional camel cart.
The Taj Mahal: The World’s Most Perfect Building
No amount of preparation truly readies you for your first sight of the Taj Mahal. Not the photographs. Not the films. Not the descriptions in guidebooks. When you pass through the great sandstone gateway and see it, perfectly framed, perfectly white, floating above its long reflecting pool-something happens that is genuinely difficult to put into words.
The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan between 1632 and 1653 as the ultimate expression of his love for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. Twenty thousand craftsmen worked for over twenty years. The white marble was brought from Rajasthan on the backs of a thousand elephants. Semi-precious stones - lapis lazuli, jade, turquoise, coral, and mother of pearl — were inlaid into the marble in patterns of extraordinary delicacy. The result is a building that changes colour with the light: blush pink at dawn, brilliant white at noon, golden at sunset, silver under the full moon.
It is not merely a monument. It is an act of love made permanent in stone.
Agra Fort: The Red Palace of the Mughal Empire
A short drive from the Taj, Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the former seat of Mughal imperial power before the capital moved to Delhi. Built primarily by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and later embellished by Shah Jahan, its vast red sandstone walls contain a world of palaces, pavilions, mosques, and audience halls. From the Musamman Burj tower within the fort, you can see the Taj Mahal in the distance - the very view that the imprisoned Shah Jahan gazed upon until his death.
Evening: Premium Marble Craft & Leisure
Agra is the home of India’s finest pietra dura marble inlay work - the same technique used to create the Taj Mahal’s intricate floral decorations. Your guide can take you to a reputable artisan workshop where master craftsmen demonstrate this extraordinary skill, and where you can select pieces of genuine quality to bring home. Alternatively, simply return to your luxury hotel and enjoy the evening at your leisure.
Overnight: 5-Star Hotel, Agra | Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: Agra to Jaipur - A Ghost City & a Royal Welcome
Today’s drive from Agra to Jaipur takes you through one of Rajasthan’s most dramatic and haunting sites before delivering you to the glittering Pink City.
Fatehpur Sikri: The City That Time Forgot
En route to Jaipur, you stop at Fatehpur Sikri, one of the most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India and one of the most mysterious places you will ever visit.
Built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1569 as his new imperial capital, Fatehpur Sikri was constructed entirely from red sandstone in just fifteen years. Then, abruptly, it was abandoned. Historians still debate why water scarcity is the most accepted reason but the result is a city frozen in time: palaces, courtyards, a zenana (women’s quarters), a grand mosque, and the magnificent Buland Darwaza, the Gate of Victory - standing 54 metres high, still the largest gateway in the world.
There is something profoundly moving about Fatehpur Sikri. An entire imperial city, built with extraordinary ambition, and then simply... left. Its silence speaks volumes.
Arrival in Jaipur: The Pink City Receives You
After Fatehpur Sikri, the drive to Jaipur continues through Rajasthan’s golden landscape - desert scrubland, ancient forts on distant ridges, and the occasional traditional village untouched by modernity. Upon arriving in Jaipur, check into your five-star hotel, possibly a palace hotel or heritage property that was once a royal residence.
Evening: Jaipur’s Glittering Bazaars
Jaipur is one of India’s great shopping cities, and an evening stroll through its markets is a pleasure unlike any other. Your guide can take you to:
• Johari Bazaar: India’s most celebrated jewellery market, where family-run shops have been crafting exquisite Kundan, Polki, and Meenakari jewellery for generations. The quality here is unmatched.
• Bapu Bazaar: Vivid block-printed fabrics, traditional Rajasthani textiles, leather jootis, and handcrafted home accessories.
• MI Road Boutiques: Contemporary Rajasthani designers alongside heritage craft stores, perfect for those seeking something more curated and refined.
Overnight: 5-Star Hotel, Jaipur | Meals: Breakfast
Day 5: Jaipur - A Full Day of Royal Splendour
If Delhi is the soul of India and Agra is its heart, then Jaipur is its crown. Founded in 1727 by the astronomer-king Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur was one of the world’s first planned cities, its grid-like layout, uniform building heights, and the distinctive terracotta-pink colour of its old city walls making it unlike anywhere else on Earth.
Today is an unhurried exploration of Jaipur’s most extraordinary landmarks.
Amber Fort: The Jewel in Jaipur’s Crown
Perched on a rugged hillside above the shimmering Maota Lake, Amber Fort is arguably the most spectacular fort in India. Built over several centuries from the 16th to the 18th century by the Kachhwaha Rajput rulers, it is a breath taking fusion of Rajput bravado and Mughal refinement.
The highlight is the Sheesh Mahal, the Palace of Mirrors. Every surface of this extraordinary room is covered in tiny convex mirrors, set into plasterwork of painstaking intricacy. When a single candle is lit, the room becomes a universe of stars. It is one of the most genuinely astonishing interiors in the world.
Hawa Mahal: The Palace of Winds
Jaipur’s most iconic facade, the five-storey, honeycomb-latticed Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh for the royal ladies of the court. Its 953 jharokha windows( lattice work ) allowed the queens and princesses to observe the busy street below while remaining unseen. From the outside, it is one of the most photographed buildings in all of India. From the inside, looking out through its latticed windows as the breeze flows through, it feels like being inside a beautiful secret.
City Palace: Where India’s Royalty Still Lives
The City Palace is not just a museum, it is a living royal residence. The Maharaja of Jaipur still occupies one wing of this vast palace complex, making it one of the very few places in the world where you can visit a home that is, in the truest sense, still royal. Explore its courtyards, galleries, textile museum, and the magnificent Mubarak Mahal (Welcome Palace), built in 1900 as a guesthouse for visiting dignitaries.
Jantar Mantar: Where Science Meets Architecture
Built in 1734 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, Jantar Mantar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest stone astronomical observatory in the world. Its collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments, including the world’s largest sundial, were used to predict eclipses, track the movement of stars, and calculate time with astonishing precision. A remarkable and underrated treasure.
Overnight: 5-Star Hotel, Jaipur | Meals: Breakfast
Day 6: Jaipur’s Hidden Gems, Then the Journey Home
After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, the morning brings two final Jaipur treasures before the comfortable road journey back to Delhi.
Jaigarh Fort: The Guardian on the Ridge
Rising high above Amber on the long ridge of the Cheel Ka Teela (Hill of Eagles), Jaigarh Fort was the military stronghold that protected Amber Fort for centuries. Inside, discover the Jaivana, the world’s largest cannon on wheels, which has never been fired in battle. The views from Jaigarh’s ramparts across the Aravalli Hills and the valley below are among the most sweeping and dramatic in all of Rajasthan.
Jal Mahal: The Floating Palace
Before leaving Jaipur, your vehicle pauses at Man Sagar Lake for a view of the ethereal Jal Mahal - the Water Palace. This five-storey Rajput pavilion appears to rise directly from the surface of the lake, framed by the Aravalli Hills. Four of its five storeys lie submerged, visible only in the dry season. At dusk, when the light turns the water gold and rose, it is one of India’s most poetic sights.
The Drive Back to Delhi
Your luxury SUV makes the approximately five-to-six hour journey back to Delhi in air-conditioned comfort. This is a beautiful time to reflect on the extraordinary week behind you: the ancient lanes of Old Delhi, the impossible perfection of the Taj Mahal, the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, the royal courts of Jaipur.
Depending on your departure time, your representative will arrange a smooth and timely airport transfer to IGI International Airport, ensuring a relaxed and seamless end to your luxury India journey.
You leave India as all the best travellers do - already wondering when you will return.
